NAKIVO backups, restored across clouds and hypervisors.

CrossRestore takes a VM from your NAKIVO backup, converts the disk, uploads it and builds a running VM in Azure, AWS or Proxmox. One run, start to finish.

We will email you about the beta and launch. No spam. See our privacy policy.

The problem

Losing a VM is bad. Rebuilding it somewhere else by hand is worse.

NAKIVO keeps your backups safe. Getting one of them running in a different cloud or hypervisor is a long chain of manual steps, done under pressure, usually at night.

CrossRestore turns that chain into one run: pick the VM, pick the target, start.

The manual way

  1. 1Find the right recovery point in NAKIVO
  2. 2Export the VM disk to a staging machine
  3. 3Convert it to the format the target needs
  4. 4Fix size and alignment so the platform accepts it
  5. 5Upload tens or hundreds of gigabytes
  6. 6Build the VM, attach the disk, pick a size
  7. 7Boot it, then fix whatever went wrong

With CrossRestore

Pick the VM. Pick the target. Start the run.

How it works

An appliance next to your backups.

CrossRestore is a small Linux appliance with a browser console. You run it beside your NAKIVO Director. It does the heavy disk work there and sends the result to the target you choose.

  1. 01

    Pick

Choose a VM and a recovery point from your NAKIVO Director, then choose where it should run.

  2. 02

    Export and convert

The appliance exports the disk beside the backup data and converts it for the target, so nothing moves through your laptop.

  3. 03

    Upload

The disk goes straight to your cloud account or host. Finished uploads are kept, so a failed deploy can retry without starting over.

  4. 04

    Boot

CrossRestore builds the VM, attaches the disk and starts it. You get a running machine, not a pile of files.

161 GB

A 161 GB Windows server went from a NAKIVO backup to a running Azure VM in about 16 to 20 minutes in our own test runs. Your time depends on disk size and bandwidth.

Restore targets

Where your VMs can land.

We only mark a target as in beta once we have restored a real VM to it and watched it boot.

Built for the bad day

Careful where it counts.

One run, start to finish

Export, convert, upload and deploy happen in a single run that you start and watch from one console.

Disk work beside the backup

The appliance sits next to your NAKIVO Director. Big disks are handled close to the data, not dragged across the WAN twice.

Your data stays yours

Backups go from your environment to your cloud account. CrossRestore never holds a copy.

Resume, don't restart

Uploads that finished are kept. A failed deploy can try again without exporting the whole VM a second time.

Immutable storage guard

Before it exports anything, CrossRestore checks the Azure staging account. If immutable (WORM) storage would trap the files, it stops and says why.

Encrypted credentials

Cloud and NAKIVO credentials are stored on the appliance with AES-256-GCM encryption.

Who it is for

People who answer the phone when a server dies.

MSPs

Restore a client's server into Azure or AWS during an outage, without a night of manual conversion.

Internal IT teams

Have a tested path from your NAKIVO backups to a cloud or a second hypervisor before you need it.

NAKIVO resellers

Give customers a cloud recovery story that works with the backups they already pay for.

FAQ

Questions we get asked.

Does my backup data leave my network?

Not through us. The CrossRestore appliance runs next to your NAKIVO Director, in your environment. Disks go from there straight to the cloud account or host you choose. We never hold a copy.

What is the appliance?

A small Linux VM with a browser console. You run it beside your NAKIVO Director so the export and disk conversion happen close to the backup data, not on your laptop.

Which guest operating systems work?

Windows VMs with one disk are tested today. Linux guests and multi-disk VMs are not proven yet. Tell us what you run when you apply, so we test it.

Do I need my own NAKIVO licence?

Yes. CrossRestore works with your existing NAKIVO Backup & Replication setup. It does not replace it.

What about Veeam and other backup tools?

NAKIVO comes first. Other backup sources are on the list. If you use something else, say so on the beta form so we know where demand is.

What will it cost?

Pricing is set before general release. Founding Partners lock in a founding price.

Who can join the beta?

MSPs, IT teams and NAKIVO resellers anywhere in the world. We pick testers so we cover a spread of clouds, hosts and VM types.

Is CrossRestore made by NAKIVO?

No. CrossRestore is an independent product from Cloud Ready Solutions in Brisbane, Australia. NAKIVO is a trademark of NAKIVO Inc.
